Two Poems
by Samual Gentry
DAMAGED i cannot see beyond my misery dead faced, head down i have drowned bottomed out cold shallow shivers dancing deeper hollow stare long past despair share the last thing holding this breath slow collapse keep me craddled softly sing lovesick blues alone i have lost bury the sadness release the loneliness i still remember the kiss if only i realised before now so far gone what have i become? nothing wrong will i miss being alive? TWO DAYS-TWO ROADS I traveled back for hours Closed eyes knew of several lies As I interviewed higher powers Took time, In stride Rehearsed reflection Rearview mirror reversed direction If my eye lids never open again Would you consider me blind? Behind the wheel I found contrasted colors Help me focus Fine lines fade fast Let me guess Two books together just might save us Water awoke me Before any words were spoken I drew two conclusions To confirm a summer vision My mind is made, I live with indecision Counted stars once more Cloud cover proved this to be difficult An early walk brought many thoughts Memories resurfaced subtle insults Remember I’m free One day, today, someday; still I will believe only what I see So show Me something worth mentioning.
